Alexander Isak has made his final choice regarding a move to Liverpool after discussions with the Newcastle PIF delegation.
We are just days away from the transfer window closing, and Alexander Isak has expressed his desire to move to Liverpool following a meeting with Newcastle representatives at his home.
Ahead of Monday’s match between Newcastle and Liverpool, Isak discussed his future with a Public Investment Fund delegation and Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben.
Earlier this month, Newcastle turned down a £110 million offer from Liverpool for the striker, a decision that reportedly frustrated Isak.
The 25-year-old issued a statement indicating that Newcastle had not fulfilled promises made to him regarding his future, especially amid links to a record transfer to Anfield. He stated, “Promises were made, and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”
A week later, Isak reiterated his intention to leave Newcastle United before the window closes and expressed his eagerness to join Liverpool.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Isak is determined to remain inactive until he secures a transfer, having missed recent matches against Aston Villa and Liverpool. Meanwhile, Liverpool is reportedly preparing a second offer after their initial bid was rejected but is waiting for a signal from Newcastle before proceeding. However, Liverpool is hesitant to submit another offer without assurance of acceptance and will not meet Newcastle’s £150 million asking price.
Newcastle has denied Isak’s claims about unfulfilled promises. They expressed disappointment in his statement, clarifying that he remains under contract and that no commitments were made regarding his release this summer.
They stated, “We want to keep our best players but understand that players have their own wishes. We must always consider the best interests of Newcastle United, the team, and our supporters in all decisions. We have made it clear that the conditions for a sale have not been met and do not foresee them being met.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming Isak’s place within the club: “This is a proud football club with proud traditions, and we strive to maintain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”
