Alexis Mac Allister Names Jack Grealish as His Most Irritating Premier League Opponent

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has revealed which Premier League player gets under his skin the most—and it’s none other than Manchester City star Jack Grealish.

Despite only being at Liverpool for two seasons, Mac Allister has already cemented his place as a crucial member of the squad, making 49 appearances this season alone. Since joining from Brighton in 2023, he has thrived at Anfield and played a significant role in the club’s title-winning campaign under new manager Arne Slot.

While the Argentine has spoken openly about how much he enjoys playing in the Premier League, he admitted in a recent interview that there’s one player who consistently frustrates him on the pitch. According to The Mirror, Mac Allister pointed to Grealish as the player who annoys him the most, even admitting that he often wants to kick him during games.

“You feel like kicking him,” Mac Allister said. “But when you do, he just gets back up—and somehow, that makes you feel like you’ve come out on top.”

The two have faced off four times: once when Grealish was at Aston Villa and three times since he joined City. In those encounters, Mac Allister has experienced two losses, one draw, and one win while playing for Liverpool.

Grealish’s antics have made him a divisive figure in football. Known for drawing fouls and playing to the referee, he’s often accused of going down too easily. His theatrics even earned him a tongue-in-cheek comparison from former Manchester United captain Roy Keane, who likened him to Olympic diver Tom Daley after a controversial penalty incident in 2023.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said: “People say Jack’s like Tom Daley, and while I do think it was a penalty, it was clever play. He gets his body across well and, as Gary [Neville] said, he knows exactly what he’s doing.”
