Trent Alexander-Arnold, who picked up a thigh issue during the recent win over Bournemouth, has missed the last two matches, while Joe Gomez was forced off early in Liverpool’s FA Cup loss to Plymouth Argyle on Sunday.

These are the Reds’ only major injury concerns ahead of their clash with Everton, though one of the defenders has already been ruled out.

Slot Provides Updates on Trent and Gomez

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (via Liverpool FC on YouTube), Slot revealed the latest on both players.

“Trent took part in parts of training yesterday, so we’ll see how he feels today. If he trains again, we’ll decide whether to include him in the squad,” the Dutchman explained.

“With Joe, it’s the same leg where he previously had a hamstring injury. We’re still assessing it, but he will definitely not be available for tomorrow.”

Trent Nearing Return, but Bradley Ready to Step Up

Gomez was always a long shot to feature in the derby, but the hope is that his injury isn’t as serious as initially feared.

As for Alexander-Arnold, Slot will want his vice-captain available for such a crucial fixture, especially given the right-back’s deep connection to the club and the rivalry. However, he faces a tight race to be fit in time.

If Trent isn’t quite ready, Liverpool have a strong alternative in Conor Bradley. The young Northern Ireland international was rested for Sunday’s FA Cup defeat and has already proven himself as a reliable option.

Should the Everton game come too soon for Alexander-Arnold, he could be back in contention for next weekend’s home clash against Wolves. Either way, it seems his return is not far off.

While fans will hope to see Trent back on the pitch tomorrow, Liverpool can trust Bradley to deliver if called upon.
