One of the Premier League’s most sought-after players was in North London on Tuesday night to witness Arsenal’s Champions League match against PSG.
Arsenal extended their unbeaten run in the 2024/25 season, claiming all three points in their opening Champions League fixture.
With 20 minutes played, Kai Havertz opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season, followed by a second goal from Bukayo Saka, who netted a free-kick as stand-in captain.
However, much of the online buzz centered around West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus, who was seen watching from the stands.
Kudus, who was linked with multiple clubs this summer, including Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal—who had previously been interested during his Ajax days—continues to be a subject of speculation.
Reports have also emerged about a confrontation between Kudus and Julen Lopetegui at halftime during West Ham’s 1-0 loss to Brighton, which Kudus reportedly felt was ‘unfair,’ although insiders claim the issue has been ‘overblown.’
Nonetheless, Kudus’ presence at the Emirates sparked rumors. One fan remarked, “I think he’ll be an Arsenal player soon,” while another noted, “Calafiori was at the Emirates in January, too. Interesting.”
Another fan wrote, “Signing him would set us up for years, but it could come at a price,” while others speculated on Arsenal’s recruitment efforts: “Edu’s doing his thing again,” and “Maybe he’s just there to watch Partey, who knows?”
Earlier in March, Kudus revealed that he had declined a move to Arsenal before joining West Ham for a reported £38 million. Speaking to The Guardian, he shared his thoughts on the decision, mentioning that Arsenal, Brighton, and Chelsea had shown interest last summer.
Reflecting on his choice, he explained: “After my season at Ajax, I was ready for the next step. I could have stayed at Ajax, but I didn’t want to get too comfortable. I like to challenge myself.
“All the clubs mentioned were in contact, but when West Ham came, things moved quickly. I made my decision based on conversations with people at the club and how they saw me as a player.”
Kudus added, “I followed my gut feeling in making that decision, and whatever the outcome, I own it.”
