Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Liverpool player Arne Slot, who the manager is eager to retain following the unsuccessful attempt to acquire Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool achieved their second league victory in the Premier League era and quickly moved to sign right-back Jeremie Frimpong, which should enhance Arne Slot’s options on the flank following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s controversial exit.

With the imminent signing of left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, Liverpool made a significant investment in the midfield by securing German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz in a record deal that could reach £116 million with add-ons.

Typically, a talented young German player who has helped prevent Bayern Munich from winning the Bundesliga—like Wirtz did under former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen during the 2023-24 season—might simply switch sides.

Reports indicate that Bayern Munich expressed interest in one of Europe’s top talents, but Wirtz’s transfer to the Premier League has led them to search for alternative options, even as they focus on their Club World Cup campaign in the United States.

According to Liverpool.com, the German champions are now looking at Anfield to find a replacement for Wirtz.

However, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany may face stiff competition from Barcelona and Slot for Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who is also being pursued along with teammate Cody Gakpo.

Diaz has expressed a desire to remain at Liverpool if a contract extension can be agreed upon, and Slot reportedly shares that ambition.

Bayern also showed interest in Barcelona-bound Nico Williams and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, but those pursuits have led them to consider players from Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, and Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund.

With a busy checklist, Bayern’s recruitment team won’t have much time to relax during the Club World Cup.

Kompany’s squad won their opening match against semi-professionals Auckland City 10-0 and narrowly defeated Boca Juniors in the second match.

Tuesday’s game against Benfica will determine whether Bayern finishes first or second in the group, but Benfica must avoid defeat to have a chance, relying on Auckland to limit the score against Boca.
