Ben White was moved to tears after receiving his England call-up, while Lee Carsley is set to reveal the newest squad.

Ben White’s emotional reaction to his England call-up, which brought him to tears, as Lee Carsley gets ready to announce the latest squad.
Ben White hasn’t been included in an England squad since December 2022.
White once revealed that he cried upon receiving a call from England, but it seems he will again miss out on the latest Three Lions squad. Interim manager Lee Carsley is set to announce the squad for the upcoming matches against Greece and Finland on Thursday.
Carsley has maintained a perfect record since taking charge, winning Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland last month. While the FA has yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Gareth Southgate, a successful set of results for Carsley could strengthen his claim for the role.
One lingering issue predating Carsley’s tenure is the situation with Arsenal defender Ben White. The 26-year-old hasn’t been called up for England since the 2022 World Cup and has withdrawn himself from consideration for Euro 2024.
According to The Telegraph, the situation may stem from a disagreement between White and then-England assistant Steve Holland during an international camp, possibly relating to a matter of respect. Southgate also confirmed that Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, had informed him that White wouldn’t be available for Euro 2024.
This is a stark contrast to an earlier moment when White received a call from FA officials, informing him he had made the provisional 33-man squad for Euro 2020. Although he didn’t make the final squad initially, he was added as a late replacement following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury.
Reflecting on that call, White told Sky Sports: “I got a call while I was out for dinner, and I couldn’t believe it. I sat and cried for an hour. I still don’t think it’s fully sunk in.” He went on to add, “I didn’t expect the call at all, especially so late, but when it came, I was beyond excited and shocked.”
