Chelsea discusses signing a player targeted by Manchester United and Liverpool, as reported exclusively

With the transfer window now into it’s third day, Chelsea are reportedly wasting no time in holding talks for potential transfer targets this month.

As we keep hearing, Chelsea are keen on a new striker this month and could add one to the ranks if they find a suitable option.

However, they are also continuously being linked to new centre backs as well, with that clearly being an area that they are looking to improve in.

The Sun have an exclusive report this morning claiming that Chelsea are in talks with Benfica to sign 20-year-old centre back Antonio Silva, having had their scouts watching him closely lately.

Chelsea are now hoping to beat Manchester United and Liverpool to the signing of Silva, with both Premier League clubs also showing a keen interest in the defender.

The report claims Chelsea have made an initial £52million proposal including Armando Broja, but this was rejected by the Portuguese side.

Chelsea have instead been told they must meet Silva’s £87million release clause in order to sign him.
