Barcelona director Deco’s remarks about admiring Luis Díaz and Marcus Rashford have added fuel to summer transfer speculation, but the reality behind the scenes is far more complex.

Luis Díaz: A Star in Demand, But Not for Sale?

Díaz has become a key figure at Liverpool, especially after stepping up during injury crises and big games. While Deco’s praise hints at genuine interest, Liverpool hold the cards with a long-term contract in place and no urgent need to sell.

The Colombian winger has reportedly shown openness to both a contract extension and a dream move to Barcelona, but any transfer would require serious money — something Barcelona simply may not have. With Financial Fair Play pressures and limited funds, a Díaz deal looks more like a fantasy than a firm possibility.

Marcus Rashford: A Realistic Target?

Rashford’s situation is more volatile. Following a rocky spell at Manchester United and a January loan to Aston Villa, his future at Old Trafford is uncertain. If Erik ten Hag stays — or is replaced — Rashford might be seen as surplus to requirements, and his price tag could be far lower than Díaz’s.

For Barcelona, that makes him a more realistic signing, especially if they can negotiate a structured deal or even a loan with an option to buy. Rashford’s profile — pace, directness, and experience — fits well with Xavi’s tactical setup.

But Where Would They Fit?

With Raphinha and Lamine Yamal already occupying the wings, bringing in another wide player would likely result in tactical reshuffling or one of the current wingers being sold. Rashford could also double as a central striker in certain systems, offering more flexibility than Díaz.

Bottom line: While Deco’s comments show intent, a move for Rashford is more plausible. Díaz remains a dream scenario — one that hinges on Barcelona making a major sale or pulling off financial gymnastics.
