Cole Palmer includes Chelsea teammate in his top five-a-side team

Ahead of Chelsea’s first leg semi-final tie against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup tonight, Cole Palmer has picked his ultimate five-a-side team.

It included one Chelsea player, with Thiago Silva being the man Cole Palmer went with, partnering him up in defence with his former Manchester City teammate John Stones.

“My two centre-backs will be John Stones because he’s an amazing player and a great person,” the 21-year-old told the Carabao Cup’s official X page when going through his side. “Thiago Silva’s the next one. Really good player, a lot of experience.”

Both Palmer and Silva have been key players for Chelsea this season.

The former has been directly involved in 12 league goals for Mauricio Pochettino‘s team, while the latter has missed just one game in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer and Thiago Silva can take Chelsea to Wembley

Being two of Chelsea’s most important players, you would expect both Palmer and Silva to start at the Riverside tonight and at Stamford Bridge in the second leg.

And if they do, then the Blues will have a great chance of making it to Wembley for the final.

As touched on earlier, Palmer has shown this season that he is the kind of player who can get the job done in the final third. The England international scores and creates goals.

Regarding Silva, he is obviously someone who brings plenty of experience to the pitch, which is what you want when playing a semi-final.

Pochettino has taken the cup competitions quite seriously. Considering that and the stage Chelsea now find themselves at in the Carabao Cup, it would be a shock if he did not start both Palmer and Silva.

The Argentine will be desperate to win the whole thing, especially with the club not doing so well in the Premier League, and the above names can help him to do that.
