Cole Palmer is the most important attacking player and a big threat in the EPL at the moment; here is why

Cole Palmer opened the scoring for Chelsea today, capitalising on a defensive error to get a strike at goal from range which he buried into the bottom corner.

He then turned provider to create the second, playing his part in a sweeping attack up the field that eventually got Noni Madueke in position to smash one in.

That meant a goal and an assist for Palmer today – the fourth game this season where he’s done that. That’s more than any other player in the Premier League, according to Opta.

That really illustrates just how effective Palmer has been for us – his dual threat as both a creator and a scorer. It also shows how dependent we are on him. Hopefully Christopher Nkunku can take some of that burden off him. The best part is, we’ve yet to see them both start a game at the same time.
