Conflicting reports surface regarding Harry Kane’s possible return to Tottenham Hotspur.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has boosted speculation about Harry Kane’s potential return to Tottenham Hotspur, while a report from Germany has clarified the likelihood of the striker leaving Bayern Munich this summer.
Kane gave Spurs fans a reminder of his quality on Thursday, netting a stunning opener in Bayern’s 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham.
It is widely believed that Kane’s Bayern contract includes a release clause that decreases with every transfer window. The Telegraph recently suggested that the England captain could make a Premier League comeback as early as next summer, following the 2026 World Cup.
Tottenham in the race for Kane
When Spurs sold Kane to Bayern, they reportedly inserted a first-refusal clause, giving them the chance to match any rival bid if the forward chooses to leave Bavaria.
O’Rourke told Football Insider that Daniel Levy might attempt to re-sign the club legend, a move that would be hugely popular among supporters.
“If Harry Kane is open to returning to the Premier League, plenty of clubs will be interested,” O’Rourke said. “The key question is which English side will go for him. He’s already the second-highest scorer in Premier League history behind Alan Shearer, so breaking that record could tempt him back.
“He could be available for around £56 million from January, which would be a bargain, though at 32 — turning 33 next season — some elite clubs might hesitate. Tottenham have first refusal, meaning they can match any bid. If they want him back, they can make it happen, and it would be warmly welcomed by fans. But nothing is imminent — serious discussions would only start from January into next summer. For now, his focus is on Bayern.”
No Bayern exit this summer
While speculation continues, multiple sources agree that Kane will not be leaving Bayern this summer. Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, citing people close to the player, reported: “Harry isn’t going anywhere — he will play for FC Bayern in the upcoming season.”
