The move comes amid major changes in Liverpool’s goalkeeping department. Giorgi Mamardashvili’s transfer from Valencia will become official on July 1, and he’s expected to serve as Alisson’s backup following Caoimhin Kelleher’s £18 million transfer to Brentford. Meanwhile, Harvey Davies and Vitezslav Jaros have both signed new contracts, although a loan move for one of them is still possible.

Pecsi, described by Hungarian journalist Bence Bocsak as one of Europe’s top young goalkeeping prospects, played a key role for Puskas Akademia in their second-place finish in Hungary’s top league this season, earning a Conference League qualifying spot. According to Tribuna, the young goalkeeper possesses an ideal blend of physicality and technical skill and has earned praise for his composure, decision-making, and ability to play out from the back.

Pecsi is expected to start his Liverpool journey at the academy level for the 2025/26 season, with a loan move likely to follow as he continues his development. The long-term plan could see him become the main backup to Mamardashvili—or even challenge for the number one spot when Alisson eventually moves on.
