Crystal Palace issues a transfer statement regarding Marc Guehi, citing that the unexpected departures have led to a decisive action.

Marc Guehi could be sold during this transfer window if the right offer comes in, according to Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish. He noted that the club’s spending will be limited due to the “crazy” debts from previous transfers.

The 25-year-old England defender is entering the final year of his contract, putting Palace at risk of losing their captain for free next year. The club rejected a £70 million bid from Newcastle last summer and had another offer in January, following the £30 million sale of Joachim Andersen to Fulham.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea, Guehi’s former club, are still interested in him, especially with Chelsea needing another defender after Levi Colwill’s ACL surgery. When asked about Guehi’s potential sale, Parish confirmed, “Yes, yes,” emphasizing the challenge of allowing players of his caliber to leave without compensation.

Palace is looking for £50 million for Guehi, and Eberechi Eze also remains a target for Arsenal. Parish remarked on the complexities of player trades and the need for smart decisions amid financial constraints. He acknowledged the significant outgoings this year due to high transfer fees for existing players.

Manager Oliver Glasner has expressed frustration over the slow pace of transfers, with only two new signings made so far. Parish admires Glasner’s ambition to win trophies but highlighted the financial challenges the club faces in the current Premier League climate.

Palace is awaiting the verdict of their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding their demotion from the Europa League to the Conference League. Parish expressed hope for a positive outcome but acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the decision.
