Journalist thinks Chelsea can still make a surprise move this January transfer window

Football journalist, David Ornstein of The Athletic has said that there’s still a big possibility that Chelsea could sell an important player this January.

The player in question is of course, Conor Gallagher, who has been a part of lots of media gossips over a potential sale to another club.

Tottenham have been linked with the 23-year-old the most, and Ornstein is certain that Chelsea will not hesitate to sell him if the right offer arrives in the last week of the ongoing transfer window.

“I wouldn’t rule out that we could see something develop with Conor Gallagher. We know that if suitable offers arrive then they will definitely consider it,” he told Sky Sports News.

“Tottenham definitely like him, and if they were to shift somebody like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, that frees up some funds. “It could yet provide us with a major story. I’m not saying it’s gonna happen but… that’s plausible.”

Rumours of Chelsea wanting to sell Gallagher were intensified on Tuesday, after the midfielder was made to sit out the Blues’ 6-1 thrashing of Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
