“Deal completed” – Fabrizio Romano teases another thrilling Liverpool signing “coming very soon”

An agreement has reportedly been reached for Virgil van Dijk to sign a new contract with Liverpool, following Mohamed Salah’s extension, which was officially confirmed earlier today.
Salah had been nearing the end of his previous deal, and Van Dijk finds himself in a similar situation. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch defender has already finalized terms to continue his stay at Anfield, even though an official announcement is still pending.
Romano assures that Van Dijk’s contract extension is virtually complete and will be made official soon. As a key figure in Arne Slot’s squad, this is great news for Liverpool fans—especially amid the disappointment of potentially losing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
So far, it’s two out of three for Liverpool: Salah and Van Dijk are set to stay, while signs indicate Alexander-Arnold may opt not to renew his contract. With his current deal expiring this summer, several reports, including from BBC Sport, suggest a move to Real Madrid is looking increasingly likely.
Replacing Alexander-Arnold will be no easy task, and keeping both Salah and Van Dijk helps Liverpool avoid the hefty challenge of replacing two world-class players. Van Dijk, as club captain and a seasoned winner, remains a central figure in the team’s future.
