A visibly frustrated Mikel Arteta criticized his team for not holding their lead, a recurring problem that also surfaced in their recent match against Liverpool. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “We were the dominant team, and after taking the lead, it’s really disappointing to concede like that. It was poor, below our standards, and unacceptable.
“I’m proud of the team’s spirit, but we’re here to win, and we didn’t achieve that. The goal came from a second-phase set piece, and we were disorganized. We didn’t react fast enough, and you can’t allow a pass like that.
“Neto has the quality to score from distance, but our defensive standards were lacking. The players are disappointed but showed resilience. We were pushing for the win, and it didn’t happen.
“While everything seemed to flow, it always comes down to results. We have a vision for the team’s progress, but it’s clear something needs to change to address these recurring issues.
“My priority is ensuring the players are at peak physical condition for the entire match. If we can manage that, I’m confident we’ll have a successful season.”
The draw left both teams trailing Liverpool by nine points after 11 games. When asked about the gap, Arteta replied, “That’s out of our hands now. My hope is that after the international break, the team will be fully fit.
“We’ve been dealing with constant setbacks for eight weeks. Every week, we face new challenges—not only with absent players but also with those who can’t play full matches. My focus is getting the squad in top shape.
“There’s no question about the team’s commitment and ambition. Success will come, but we need consistency on our side.

Arteta’s frustration was compounded by injuries to Declan Rice, who left the pitch in the 71st minute, and Bukayo Saka, substituted following a strong tackle from Marc Cucurella.
