Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has downplayed injury concerns over Alexander Isak, explaining that the striker was substituted as a precaution during their FA Cup defeat to Brighton.
The Swedish forward, who found the net in the 2-1 loss, limped off late in the game, sparking fears he might miss the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
“Isak experienced some tightness but wasn’t injured. As the game progressed, the risk increased, so we took him off to prevent any issues,” Howe stated.
He added, “We need this week to recover and regroup. With a small squad, missing Botman, we can’t afford any more injuries.”
