Enzo Maresca emphasized that Nicolas Jackson is his preferred choice as the central striker, but Christopher Nkunku will also play a vital role this season.
“We know how crucial he is for us,” the Chelsea manager stated about Jackson. “On the ball, he’s performing exceptionally well—scoring, assisting, and connecting with his teammates. Off the ball, he’s putting in the effort, pressing as we want him to, and he’s been fantastic for us.”
He added, “We also have Christopher [Nkunku], who will be a valuable asset because the season is long. With so many matches ahead, our game plan may shift, making it more suited for Christopher at times rather than Nico. We have young talent available as well, so we have options.”
Nkunku is Chelsea’s leading scorer across all competitions with eight goals, although only one has come in the Premier League. In contrast, Jackson has netted five times in the league but hasn’t scored in other competitions.
