Supporters are anxiously awaiting updates on potential signings Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, with both players reportedly edging closer to moves to Anfield. However, progress on the deals appears to have slowed in recent days.
This lull has sparked some impatience among a section of Liverpool fans online. Still, Romano has provided reassurance that negotiations for both players are moving in the right direction.
Romano delivers calming message on Wirtz and Kerkez
Around midday on Friday, Romano took to X with a simple message: “Relax with Florian and Kerkez”, accompanied by a meditation emoji to emphasize his point.
Sensing that the message might not have fully landed, he returned to the platform five hours later with a follow-up: “Again for Liverpool… relax for both Wirtz and Kerkez. All proceeding in the right direction.”
Later on, in a YouTube update, Romano shared that Liverpool’s top brass are expected to meet with Bournemouth next week in hopes of finalizing a deal for Kerkez. As for Wirtz, he said negotiations are nearing completion, with only the final details remaining.
Liverpool closing in on Wirtz and Kerkez signings
It’s only natural for fans to want deals wrapped up quickly, especially after days of anticipation. But big-money transfers — like Wirtz, who could become Liverpool’s record signing at over £109m — often take time, particularly when selling clubs aim to maximize value.
The good news is that both Wirtz and Kerkez reportedly want to join Liverpool, reducing the risk of another club swooping in at the last moment. Now it’s just a matter of ironing out contractual details.
Interestingly, Kerkez was left out of Hungary’s squad for the current international window, with coach Marco Rossi citing a “problem” — a curious term considering the ongoing transfer talk surrounding the 21-year-old.
