Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is already being linked with a potential exit from Anfield just a few months after his arrival in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old Italian joined Liverpool from Juventus in August for a reported £10 million, with an additional £2.5 million in possible add-ons.

This made him Liverpool’s sole significant signing during a relatively quiet summer transfer window.

At the time, the transfer was considered a low-risk move due to the modest fee and Chiesa’s vast experience in Serie A.

However, his time at Merseyside has not unfolded as expected.

Persistent injury issues, which have plagued Chiesa throughout his career, have limited him to just three appearances. His last outing came in Liverpool’s 5-1 Carabao Cup victory over West Ham last month.

Ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig, head coach Arne Slot acknowledged that Chiesa has been struggling to adjust to the physical demands of the Premier League.

“He missed the entire pre-season, and I’ve mentioned this often. Coming into a league where the intensity is possibly even greater than Serie A makes it harder,” said Slot before Liverpool’s 1-0 win in Germany.

“Facing two Italian teams recently allows me to confidently say this. It’s not really about Serie A or the Premier League specifically, but more about him not having a full pre-season, which makes it tough for any player to catch up when matches come thick and fast.”

Slot added, “It’s been a major disappointment for him, constantly in and out of training, and I genuinely feel for him.”

Fresh reports now suggest Chiesa could return to Italy on loan as early as January, just months after joining Liverpool.

Italian outlet Calciomercato [via FourFourTwo] claims Chiesa is drawing interest from three Serie A clubs—Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Roma—all considering a loan move for the winger.

While Chiesa has remained quiet during his injury spell, it remains uncertain whether he would push for a return to Italy so soon after his Premier League debut.
