Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher share 11 Premier League predictions but clash over who will win the title
Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have shared their outlook on the 2025/26 Premier League season — but once again couldn’t agree. The new campaign kicked off at the weekend, with champions Liverpool starting strong, while Arsenal and Manchester City also picked up wins. Chelsea, however, slipped against Crystal Palace despite their heavy summer spending.
Those results seem to have shifted the pundits’ views on how the season might unfold. Neville has tipped Arsenal to edge the title race, though he admitted it’s almost impossible to split them from City and Liverpool. He praised Arsenal’s consistency in recent years and feels their time will come, but warned Liverpool’s defence needs to settle and City must sharpen up in attack — with Viktor Gyokeres key.
Carragher, on the other hand, is backing Liverpool to defend their crown. While he admitted recent defensive lapses in high-profile games were worrying, he believes if they fix that, their firepower gives them the edge. He sees Arsenal as their main challengers.
Beyond the title race, the pair also differed on the top four. Carragher predicted City, Arsenal, and Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League, while Neville backed Manchester United to join City and Liverpool. For surprise European spots, Carragher mentioned United, while Neville chose Nottingham Forest.
Both agreed Wolves and Burnley are likely to be relegated, but Carragher added Sunderland to the drop zone, while Neville picked Leeds to go straight back down.
On individual honours, they both expect Erling Haaland to win the Golden Boot. Carragher named Florian Wirtz as his breakout star, while Neville went for Viktor Gyokeres. They also highlighted Bournemouth’s Estevao and Adrien Truffert as players to watch. For managers, Carragher selected Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace, while Neville unsurprisingly backed Ruben Amorim.
