As the head of a global corporation and owner of some of the biggest names in world sport, John W. Henry rarely gets a day off — but today, he’s making the most of it.

The Fenway Sports Group (FSG) chief has faced fair criticism during the company’s 15-year ownership of Liverpool FC — especially over the failed European Super League venture — yet there’s no denying the transformation the club has undergone since he stepped in back in 2010.

Liverpool has come to a halt as thousands of ecstatic fans pack the streets to celebrate a record-equalling 20th league title — the first one to spark a full public parade since 1990.

Henry was seen thoroughly enjoying the festivities. Footage from LFCTV, shared online by @ChiesaLFC on X, captured him riding the top tier of the open-top bus, sipping a beer, dressed down in a red hoodie and poncho — a far cry from his usual formal wear.

Back in 2010, Liverpool were on the brink of financial collapse before FSG took over and ended the disastrous reign of previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Since then, the club has become a model of success — both on and off the pitch — winning two Premier League titles and a Champions League, while earning praise for their smart recruitment strategy.

While Henry and FSG will soon return to business as usual, today’s Bank Holiday celebrations mark a well-deserved moment of joy for the man who helped pull Liverpool back from the edge.
