Gabriel Jesus has voiced his frustration over limited playing time this season, having started only five matches—just one of those in the Premier League. The Arsenal striker has expressed his disappointment to Mikel Arteta, seeking more chances to contribute on the field, a sentiment shared by several of his teammates.
In the past month, Jesus has logged only 39 minutes in the Premier League, though he has played in every League Cup game and started twice in the Champions League. He was left out of the starting lineup for Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Inter Milan on Wednesday, only coming on at halftime. This marked Arsenal’s second consecutive defeat, with scoring struggles in half of their last six games.
Jesus has managed one goal and an assist in the League Cup win over Preston North End but has played just 480 minutes across all competitions—roughly five full matches—out of Arsenal’s 16 fixtures so far this season.
Despite his frustration, Jesus remains focused on maintaining team harmony. He aims to work hard in training and make the most of any playing time he’s given. He hopes the upcoming match against Chelsea will offer more opportunities.
In a post-match interview with TNT Sports Brasil, Jesus shared: “Not just me—every player wants more minutes. I’ll never disrupt the club; I’ll prove my value in training, and when I play, I’ll give my best and trust that things will work out.”
He added, “I’ve always been committed to improving, doing my best, and helping Arsenal. My current situation isn’t ideal, but I’m working hard to earn more minutes. It’s up to the coach, but I’ll keep proving myself in training.”
Confident in his potential to contribute, Jesus acknowledged Arsenal’s intense competition for spots: “I believe in what I can bring to the team, even with the tough competition for my position.”
This season, other Arsenal players like Jorginho, Raheem Sterling, Jakub Kiwior, and Oleksandr Zinchenko have seen even less time on the pitch, as have academy players Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly. Mikel Merino, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Martin Ødegaard have also had limited appearances due to injuries.
