Injured Supporters in Stable Condition as Liverpool Players Share Messages of Support – Latest from LFC
Police have issued a positive update regarding the Liverpool supporters injured during Monday’s devastating incident on Water Street, as tributes continue to come in from both past and present players.
Today’s Leading Liverpool Story: During a press conference on Tuesday, Merseyside Police announced that the 53-year-old man detained at the scene has now been officially arrested.
The man, from West Derby, is suspected of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of drugs after he drove a Ford Galaxy through a crowd of fans.
It’s believed he got through a security barrier by closely following an ambulance that was responding to someone suffering a suspected heart attack. Fortunately, while 65 people received medical attention, the 11 fans still in hospital are in stable condition and showing signs of improvement.
On Tuesday, messages of support came from across the club. Jurgen Klopp, Kenny Dalglish, and several players offered words of encouragement. “We are all with you,” said Virgil van Dijk. Trent Alexander-Arnold added, “The city will continue to pull together like it always does.”
