After stepping down as Liverpool manager in the summer of 2024, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly being courted by three different clubs, fueling speculation about a potential return to the dugout.
Klopp, who brought every major trophy to Anfield during his nine-year tenure, left the club citing exhaustion and received an emotional farewell during Liverpool’s final match of the season against Wolves. Since then, he has been enjoying a well-earned break from the demands of top-level management, although he recently accepted a non-coaching role with Red Bull as Head of Global Soccer, overseeing their football operations worldwide.
Despite his current hiatus, fresh reports suggest that Klopp could soon be presented with opportunities to return to coaching. According to TBR Football, three high-profile roles are currently being linked to the German tactician.
Journalist Graeme Bailey reports that Real Madrid is considering Klopp as a possible successor to Carlo Ancelotti, who is heavily linked with the vacant Brazil national team job. Ancelotti, a three-time Champions League winner with Los Blancos, has long been rumored to be a candidate for the Selecao, and speculation intensified following Brazil’s heavy 4-1 defeat to Argentina, which led to Dorival’s dismissal.
Interestingly, Klopp himself is also mentioned as a potential candidate to take over Brazil. However, Real Madrid’s top target to replace Ancelotti is believed to be Xabi Alonso, who has been turning heads with his stellar work at Bayer Leverkusen.
Additionally, the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) has shown long-standing interest in Klopp. Although they recently appointed Mauricio Pochettino, his early struggles in the role have left the door open for further changes, with Klopp still viewed as a strong option should the position become available again.
No Premier League Return for Klopp
One thing Klopp has made clear is that he won’t return to manage another English club out of respect and love for Liverpool. Speaking to the club’s official media and later reaffirming in a January press conference, Klopp stated that he would “never, ever manage a different club in England” — even joking that he’d rather go hungry than break that promise.
