Tottenham defender Kevin Danso delivered a composed and classy response when asked if he had a message for Arsenal after helping his side secure a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the 2025 Europa League final. Brennan Johnson’s gritty first-half strike sealed a landmark win at Bilbao’s San Mamés Stadium, bringing Spurs their first major trophy in 17 years and their first European title since 1984.
The triumph fulfilled Ange Postecoglou’s vow to win silverware in his second season and drew inevitable comparisons with Arsenal and Mikel Arteta—who, despite a longer tenure, has matched Postecoglou’s trophy count.
With Tottenham finally breaking their big-game stigma, the win gave fans plenty to celebrate—and potentially gloat about. But when Danso was asked if he had any words for Arsenal, he chose to celebrate Spurs’ success rather than fan the flames of rivalry.
“I couldn’t care less what they do,” Danso said with a smile. “I’m at Tottenham Hotspur and we just won the Europa League. I’m over the moon about that.”
It was a mature and dignified moment from the 26-year-old, who is currently on loan from RC Lens but set to join Spurs permanently this summer for £21 million after impressing in 14 appearances. Raised in England and born in Austria, Danso began his career at Augsburg and had a brief loan stint at Southampton before becoming a standout at Lens and earning 24 caps for Austria under Ralf Rangnick.
