Liverpool are optimistic about outpacing Manchester United in the race to sign the €100 million-rated 22-year-old forward.

The pursuit of Hugo Ekitike is gaining momentum, with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United all closely following the French striker’s situation this summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt have placed a steep €100 million price tag on the 22-year-old, suggesting that any potential transfer could involve prolonged negotiations.

Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Liverpool currently hold the advantage in the race, believing they are well-positioned to beat their Premier League rivals to Ekitike’s signature.

Liverpool take early lead in Ekitike chase

The Reds have expressed their interest to both the player’s camp and Eintracht Frankfurt. However, they’ve made it clear that any significant progress depends on players being sold first.

With Darwin Nunez possibly heading for the exit following mixed performances since his arrival, Liverpool have identified Ekitike as a prime replacement. Nunez’s departure would open up funds and a spot in the squad for the French forward.

Ekitike is reportedly aware of Liverpool’s current transfer plans and is willing to wait while they sort out their internal business before making his decision.

Chelsea remain serious contenders and continue to explore ways to strengthen their attack, while Manchester United have also made contact with Frankfurt regarding Ekitike as they look to add more depth up front. The Frenchman is viewed as a key partner to new signing Matheus Cunha at Old Trafford.
