Jarell Quansah has expressed that he feels prepared to “take the next step” in his footballing journey.

The Liverpool centre-back—who’s currently featuring for England at the European Under-21 Championship—made the comment while reflecting on his development and future, amid speculation about a possible move away from Anfield.

In an interview with The Athletic, Quansah said:

> “Things are progressing well. I’m not letting emotions take over, staying level-headed.
Looking back on the past three years, from my loan at Bristol Rovers to now, I feel I’m in a strong position to move forward in my career. That comes from hard work and focusing on what I can control.
The best thing I can do is stay grounded and keep working.”

His words come at a time when Fabrizio Romano has revealed Bayer Leverkusen are showing interest in the 22-year-old defender, having reportedly made contact with Liverpool.

This news coincides with potential upheaval in the Reds’ defence. Andy Robertson is said to be the top left-back target for Atletico Madrid, with initial talks underway, while Ibrahima Konate could be sold if contract negotiations don’t progress, as reported by Graeme Bailey. Trent Alexander-Arnold has already made a shock move to Real Madrid.

If Robertson and Konate follow Trent out the door, that could mean Liverpool part ways with three-quarters of their preferred backline from last season—posing a serious challenge for new manager Arne Slot.

Fortunately, captain Virgil van Dijk remains committed, and Jeremie Frimpong has already been added to the squad. Milos Kerkez is also reportedly close to joining, as Liverpool look to refresh their defence just two years after overhauling the midfield.

Quansah’s future—whether he stays to fight for a place or departs for regular minutes—adds yet another intriguing layer to a potentially transformative summer at Anfield.
