Liverpool fans are outraged with some of their fellow supporters after hearing an “embarrassing” chant, rarely heard at Anfield, during the match against Lille.

Liverpool supporters expressed frustration during the Champions League clash.

Fans online criticized a section of the Anfield crowd for singing a controversial chant during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Lille, which secured their place in the Champions League round of 16.

Anfield was its usual lively self as fans cheered on their team, who are currently excelling in both the Premier League and Champions League. However, some attendees were called out for chanting “You’re not singing anymore” at Lille fans after Harvey Elliott scored Liverpool’s second goal.

The chant sparked backlash on social media, with one fan posting on X: “Anyone who started singing ‘you’re not singing anymore’ should be identified and banned from Anfield.” Another wrote: “Lower Anny making an absolute show of themselves with that chant toward Lille fans who’ve been brilliant.”

Despite Lille supporters being vocal throughout the match, even after Jonathan David equalized following Mohamed Salah’s opener, the chant from Liverpool fans drew criticism for being disrespectful.

One fan remarked: “Immediate Gulag for anyone who did the ‘you’re not singing anymore’ chant there,” while another suggested it was sung by fans who don’t regularly attend games.

Although the Lille fans maintained their enthusiasm, their team’s loss means their progression to the round of 16 hinges on a decisive clash with Feyenoord next week. Meanwhile, Liverpool remains top of the Champions League group and will face PSV Eindhoven in their final group-stage match.
