Liverpool Fans Share Their Verdict on Alexander Isak’s First Start

Liverpool supporters have taken to social media to share their thoughts on Alexander Isak’s debut performance.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a home clash against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid at Anfield.
Much of the pre-match focus was on Arne Slot’s team selection, with the Swedish striker handed his first start since joining from Newcastle United on deadline day for a British-record £125 million. Having missed Sunday’s dramatic late win over Burnley, Isak was included in the starting XI for the first time.
Liverpool struck early, taking the lead within five minutes when Mohamed Salah’s free kick deflected off Andy Robertson and into the net. Two minutes later, Salah doubled the advantage with a composed finish.
Atletico pulled one back just before half-time through Marcos Llorente, setting up an intriguing second half.
Fans’ reactions to Isak’s debut were mixed. Some praised his skill, with one saying: “Isak, you had me at the step over.” Others pointed out that he still appears to be finding full fitness: “Isak seems a bit rusty but that’s expected,” wrote one supporter, while another added, “It’s obvious he’ll need a few weeks to get fully sharp.”
Another joked: “Isak looks tired already lol,” while others were more optimistic: “If that’s all we get tonight, we enjoyed it,” and “He’ll be great once he’s fully fit. Just looks rusty.”
Speaking at half-time, TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist said of Atletico’s goal: “Lovely finish, just toe-poked it away. Not a huge shock they scored — since going 2-0 down, they’ve had a good share of the ball and created a couple of chances.”
Liverpool now turn their attention to the Premier League, where they face Everton at Anfield in Saturday’s Merseyside Derby.
