According to Football Insider, Liverpool could tempt Newcastle United into selling Anthony Gordon with an offer in the region of £75-80 million. Journalist Pete O’Rourke noted that several factors would influence any deal.
He explained that if Luis Diaz were to leave—whether to Barcelona, Saudi Arabia, or elsewhere—Liverpool would be in the market for a left-winger. Gordon was close to joining Liverpool last summer when Newcastle faced pressure to offload players due to PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) issues.
The Reds have continued to monitor Gordon, who remains on their radar. However, Newcastle are reluctant to sell the 24-year-old, who signed a long-term contract last October and has become a key player under Eddie Howe. With improved finances thanks to Champions League qualification, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell, and only a substantial bid would prompt them to consider it.
Gordon remains an attractive option for Liverpool due to his energy, goal threat, and defensive work rate—traits Arne Slot values in wide players.
Whether a move happens could depend on outgoings from Anfield. For now, Liverpool’s primary focus is finalising deals for Wirtz and Kerkez, though interest in Gordon could resurface in the coming weeks.
