Liverpool Parade Incident: Suspect Detained on Charges of Attempted Murder and Drug-Impaired Driving
An updated report has been issued following the disturbing event that took place on Monday during Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade. The club was celebrating their second Premier League title, and it marked the first occasion they could showcase the trophy in front of their fans, with large crowds gathering to witness the celebration.
The festivities came to a sudden halt when a car struck several people on Water Street. Not long after the incident, police arrested a 53-year-old man in connection with the crash. A new update has now clarified the multiple offenses he is being held for.
The suspect has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. According to Detective Chief Superintendent Karen Jaundrill, as reported by Sky News, the man is also suspected of dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drugs. She stated:
“We have arrested a 53-year-old man from West Derby on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving while impaired by drugs. He remains in custody for questioning.”
The suspect, who has not been named, is still being interviewed by police. Additionally, it has been confirmed that 11 people are still receiving medical treatment for injuries they sustained during the incident on Water Street.
