Liverpool provide injury update on Alisson following a brutal head collision during Brazil match.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has withdrawn from Brazil’s squad following a heavy head collision during their World Cup qualifier against Colombia. The incident occurred in the 78th minute when Alisson clashed with former Tottenham defender Davinson Sánchez, leading to both players being substituted.

Liverpool confirmed that Alisson will return to Merseyside for further medical assessments. A club statement on Friday said: “Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and will return to Liverpool. The goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of his nation’s World Cup qualifier with Colombia in the early hours of Friday following a collision. Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside and will undergo assessment from the Reds’ medical staff.”

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar explained that Alisson was taken off due to a suspected concussion and will undergo a series of medical tests, including a CT scan and diffusion MRI, to determine his condition. If the results are clear, further cognitive and observation tests will be conducted to assess whether he can rejoin the squad for their next match against Argentina.

Lasmar reassured that Alisson remained conscious throughout, did not experience memory loss, and showed no severe symptoms after the game. However, as a precautionary measure, he was substituted to follow concussion protocols.
