Nunez, who arrived at Anfield in a high-profile transfer in 2022, has yet to make the same impact as Isak, who joined Newcastle in the same window and has been more influential.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Isak in recent weeks, with The Athletic now confirming Liverpool’s admiration for the Swedish forward.
However, Newcastle remain determined to keep Isak and are planning contract talks at the end of the season. Multiple reports indicate that Liverpool would only move forward with their interest if Newcastle made him genuinely available for transfer.
Interestingly, The Chronicle recently reported that Newcastle could be among the clubs offered the chance to sign Nunez for £60 million this summer.
Newcastle CEO Darren Eales has reinforced the club’s stance on retaining key players, stating that all their players are on long-term contracts and there is no pressure to sell. He emphasized that Newcastle’s ownership is ambitious and fully committed to keeping their best players.
