Liverpool ‘Set to Sell’ Star Player Following Completion of Florian Wirtz Transfer

Liverpool are reportedly ready to offload a key player as the Florian Wirtz transfer saga appears to be reaching its conclusion.

With the summer transfer window just days away from opening, Liverpool have already made progress behind the scenes to set up several major moves. The club is expected to finalise deals for Bayer Leverkusen stars Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz within the first few days of the window.

At the same time, Liverpool are also working on outgoings, identifying players who could be sold to make room in the squad. One such player is winger Luis Diaz. According to Football Insider, former Manchester United and Blackburn scout Mick Brown revealed that Liverpool are open to selling the 28-year-old to help fund incoming transfers.

“Liverpool are willing to let Diaz go if they secure a suitable replacement,” Brown said. “The club has never been completely closed to the idea of selling him, but they’ve been waiting until they had someone lined up to fill his spot. It’s one thing to want to upgrade a position—it’s another to actually find someone who improves the team.”

He added that Liverpool have been quietly working to identify Diaz’s successor and now seem to have settled on Florian Wirtz. “It’s a huge move for them, and they’re pushing hard to get it over the line. Once it’s done, they’ll be in a better position to allow others to leave and reshape the squad.”

Barcelona are reportedly one of several clubs monitoring Diaz’s situation, as they consider various wide options—among them Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

Diaz featured prominently for Liverpool this season, recording 17 goals and eight assists across 50 appearances in all competitions.
