Liverpool’s match against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield will no longer be broadcast for free, as a new channel has been announced.

Liverpool will face Crystal Palace this weekend for the Community Shield, aiming to secure their first title in three years. The match, set for Wembley Stadium on Sunday, features the Premier League champions against the FA Cup winners from last season.

Liverpool dominated the league last season, finishing 10 points ahead under manager Arne Slot. In contrast, Crystal Palace made history by winning their first major trophy with Eberechi Eze’s goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

This Sunday’s match marks Palace’s first appearance in the Community Shield, a fixture that has been part of football culture for nearly 120 years. Liverpool, with 16 titles, last won the trophy in 2022 against City, trailing only Manchester United and Arsenal in overall wins.

However, fans will not be able to watch the match on free-to-air television due to a significant change. ITV, which previously held the rights, will no longer broadcast the game. Instead, it will be available exclusively on the subscription service TNT Sports and discovery+.

Coverage begins on TNT Sport 1 at 2 PM, with kickoff scheduled for 3 PM and concluding by 6 PM.

The FA confirmed this change in a statement, noting that the match will feature the 2024-25 FA Cup winners, Crystal Palace, against the 2024-25 Premier League champions, Liverpool. This shift comes after ITV was reported to be losing its rights to live FA Cup broadcasts starting in the 2025/26 season, with the BBC set to air 14 live games as part of a new agreement.
