The agent of Lyon star Malick Fofana has admitted they are working on securing a move that could see the winger join Liverpool. Frederico Pena, who represents the 20-year-old and serves as the general manager of Roc Nation Sports — the agency founded by Jay-Z — believes Fofana deserves to play for a club of the Premier League champions’ calibre.

Pena explained that this is a crucial season for the Belgian international, who is eager to make his mark ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

> “This is the season for Fofana to show himself to the world, especially at the World Cup,” Pena told De Morgen (via Sport Witness).
“If he performs, he can move from Lyon to a top-10 club. At Roc Nation, we strongly believe he belongs at clubs like Liverpool, Bayern Munich, or Manchester City.”

Fofana — who netted 11 goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances last season — is highly valued at Lyon, though Pena hinted a move could be on the horizon.

“We discovered Fofana through our scouting network — he’s an extraordinary talent who’s nearly ready for a big transfer. With the World Cup taking place in the United States next year, Roc Nation wants to guide players who can shine on that stage, and Fofana fits perfectly.”

Pena also compared Fofana’s potential to global superstars like Mbappé, Yamal, and De Bruyne, emphasizing their goal to help him grow both on and off the pitch.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have already spent over £300m revamping their attack this summer with the arrivals of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike, yet the Reds remain keen on adding more young attacking talent to Arne Slot’s squad.
