Manchester United are already mapping out their plans for the January transfer window.
Reports suggest that the club dispatched scouts to Italy to monitor two Napoli players.
After splashing over £150 million in the summer, securing the likes of Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Joshua Zirkzee, United are once again focused on strengthening their squad. Zirkzee, who joined from Bologna, played a pivotal role in helping his former club qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, via Sport Witness, United have returned to the Italian transfer market ahead of January. An official was reportedly sent to observe Napoli’s 1-0 victory over Empoli on Sunday.
Napoli, currently led by former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, had dealings with United in the summer when they acquired Scott McTominay. They also have ex-United striker Romelu Lukaku, who joined permanently from Chelsea.
Now, United have reportedly set their sights on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno. Kvaratskhelia has been a Premier League target since his impressive debut season in Naples, where he scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists, helping Napoli win their first Scudetto in 32 years. Although his performances dipped last season, with Napoli finishing a disappointing 10th, his agent has hinted at interest from PSG, and it’s unclear if he still wants to leave before Euro 2024.
Buongiorno, an Italian international who recently joined Napoli from Torino, is regarded as one of Italy’s top defensive prospects. However, his five-year contract with a €70 million release clause could make him a difficult target for United in January.
