Brentford, facing uncertainty over Mark Flekken’s future, had been actively looking for a new goalkeeper and saw Kelleher as the ideal candidate.

The deal, reportedly worth around £18 million including add-ons, marks one of the biggest goalkeeper investments in the club’s history.

Brentford regard Kelleher as a long-term signing who has the potential to become their regular first-choice goalkeeper.

The move also provides the Irish international with a valuable chance to establish himself in the Premier League and reinforce his claim for the Republic of Ireland’s starting goalkeeper position.

An official announcement is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours, with Kelleher due to join Thomas Frank’s squad for pre-season training.
