Melissa Reddy reports that Arne Slot is prepared to part ways with a Jurgen Klopp favourite, surprising Liverpool supporters.

Harvey Elliott’s future at Liverpool has grown increasingly uncertain following a recent update from Melissa Reddy.

The England youth international has mostly been restricted to substitute appearances in Arne Slot’s debut season at Anfield. Compared to the 2,786 minutes he logged in 2023/24 under Jurgen Klopp, his playing time has dropped significantly — with only 583 minutes across all competitions this term.

Interestingly, Klopp previously admitted he didn’t give Elliott enough minutes, but his successor has leaned heavily on Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch instead.

According to Reddy, amid the backdrop of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s expected move to Real Madrid, Liverpool may consider selling Elliott if a “good offer” comes in.

She explained to Sky Sports: “Liverpool have made strong offers for Alexander-Arnold to stay, but understand the appeal of a new challenge and lifestyle in Madrid. They’ve supported him through a tough emotional decision. Still, it would be hypocritical to begrudge Trent leaving when the club is open to selling Elliott — a player who once rejected top clubs to call Anfield home.”

Elliott still has more than two years left on his current deal with Liverpool.

Is Liverpool’s midfield lacking physical presence?
There’s an ongoing debate about whether a midfield packed with smaller players is a liability in the Premier League. Judging by Elliott’s reduced minutes under Slot, the manager may share this concern to some extent.

Yet despite limited game time, Elliott has been productive — with six goal contributions (four goals, two assists), averaging a contribution every 97.16 minutes, which is an impressive return for a midfielder.

Even so, Slot’s preference to consistently rely on others suggests a lack of full trust in the 21-year-old.
