Mo Salah Sends Social Media into Frenzy with Post Just Moments After Man Utd’s Embarrassing Loss to ASEAN All-Stars
Supporters are convinced that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah threw shade at Manchester United following their 1-0 defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia.
Ruben Amorim’s team visited Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday as part of their post-season tour of Asia. They faced a squad made up mostly of Southeast Asian players, including representatives from countries like South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Australia. The team was captained by Malaysian international Sergio Aguero.
Amorim rotated his lineup by using separate elevens in each half, but United still conceded a goal midway through the second half.
Having recently lost the Europa League final, United’s latest setback wasn’t as devastating, but it still opened the door for rival fans to poke fun. And many believe Salah seized the moment.
Just minutes after the final whistle in Kuala Lumpur, Salah posted two photos on Twitter of himself holding the Premier League trophy at Anfield. The timing didn’t go unnoticed.
One fan remarked, “Posting that just five minutes after United’s loss to the ASEAN All-Stars—iconic. What a way to wrap up a legendary season. Love you.” Another commented, “No one has more disdain for United than Mo Salah.” A third added, “Salah is the ultimate hater of this generation.”
After the match in Malaysia, United will travel next to face the Hong Kong national team before concluding their tour. They missed out on the Maybank Cup in Kuala Lumpur, though it’s unlikely to leave a lasting impression.
However, the performance may give Amorim more clarity on where the squad needs strengthening. Speaking after Sunday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League, Amorim said, “I’m eager to wrap up the season and begin preparations for the next. We can’t afford to waste time—we need to get ready for pre-season. With the World Cup coming in future years, full pre-seasons will be rare.”
He concluded, “There are changes we need to make to this squad. There’s a lot to be done.”
