Mo Salah Sends Social Media into Frenzy with Post Moments After Man Utd’s Embarrassing Loss to ASEAN All-Stars

Mohamed Salah took to social media on Wednesday afternoon, and fans believe his post was “strategically timed.”

Supporters are convinced that the Liverpool star was taking a subtle jab at Manchester United after their 1-0 defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia.

Ruben Amorim’s squad traveled to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday as part of their post-season Asian tour, facing an ASEAN All-Stars team composed mainly of players from Southeast Asian countries.

The lineup featured players from South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Australia, with the team captained by Malaysian international Sergio Aguero.

Amorim used different starting elevens for each half, but United conceded a goal midway through the second half.

Having lost the Europa League final just a week earlier, this defeat was less significant but still provided rival fans with another chance to mock the club.

And many think Salah seized that moment with his latest social media activity.

Just minutes after the final whistle in Kuala Lumpur, the Egyptian posted two photos on Twitter showing himself holding the Premier League trophy at Anfield.

One fan commented: “Strategically posting this five minutes after United lose to ‘ASEAN All-Stars.’ What a way to end a generational season. Love you.”

Another wrote: “Nobody hates United more than Mo Salah.”

A third added: “He’s a generational hater.”

Following their brief stay in Malaysia, United will now head to face the Hong Kong national team later this week before returning home.

They missed the chance to claim the Maybank Cup in Kuala Lumpur, though it’s unlikely they’ll dwell on that too much.

The match may have highlighted to Amorim the areas he needs to focus on in the transfer market this summer.

After Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Aston Villa, the United manager said:

“I’m really excited to finish the season, and really excited to start again.

We can’t waste any time; we need to prepare for pre-season. With the World Cup coming soon, we won’t have the chance for a full pre-season next year.

We have to make some changes to the squad, and there’s a lot to do.”
