As for Salah’s family, they seem to have no strong desire to leave Merseyside anytime soon. As James Pearce noted in The Athletic, “All parties have remained tight-lipped over the discussions. It’s unclear what’s on the table compared to what Salah wants.” Though a lucrative Saudi offer could be tempting, there’s no indication that Salah is ready to abandon his pursuit of major trophies at Liverpool as he nears his 33rd birthday. His family is reportedly happy and well-settled in Cheshire.
While Salah keeps much of his family life private, occasional glimpses suggest they’re quite content with life in Liverpool. This hints at an openness to him staying at the club longer.
Should Liverpool extend Salah’s contract? Despite turning 33 next June, he continues to chase records, recently reaching 10 goals and 10 assists in just 17 games this season. His consistency over the years speaks volumes, with only one season at Anfield in which he didn’t reach double figures in both goals and assists.
Arne Slot also believes Liverpool should retain Salah beyond his current contract, expiring in 2025. Ahead of Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Leverkusen, Slot commented, “Mo is in a very good place at the moment… The only thing that is important for me is how he plays and what he tells me when we have conversations.”
If FSG prioritizes performance, re-signing Salah would be an easy choice. With his current pace, he could even surpass his 39 goal contributions from the 2023/24 season. But whether Liverpool’s decision-makers share Slot’s view remains to be seen.
