Newcastle may unexpectedly pursue a 6ft 3in Chelsea player in January

Newcastle United could become a surprise suitor for one Chelsea first teamer next month, according to a report today.

There could be a handful of Chelsea players up for sale next month, or at the very least, Chelsea will be willing to listen to offers for them.

And there is a situation in attack that could bubble up. As we have heard from multiple outlets and journalists now, a new striker for Chelsea could be on the agenda this winter.

And if they do bring one in, current 6ft 3in striker Armando Broja could look at his future and decide that he wants to move on in order to get regular football, with Nicolas Jackson already largely keeping him out of the regular starting Xl for Chelsea so far this season.

Journalist Ben Jacobs says that Newcastle could be a surprise suitor for Broja, writing in his latest Chelsea column for SPTC today.

Jacobs said: “The most interesting name to watch is Armando Broja. Chelsea want to keep him but it’s clear, if another striker comes in, Broja may feel like he’s being forced too far down the pecking order. West Ham are still interested and Newcastle could be a surprise suitor, but they will struggle under FFP to push in January for anything but a loan.”
