“Chelsea Fans Furious as Key Player Faces Backlash After Frustrating Draw with 10-Man Nottingham Forest”
Chelsea were held to a frustrating home draw despite Nottingham Forest playing the final 15 minutes with just 10 men.
Following the 1-1 result, Chelsea fans have turned their frustration towards one of their star players, Enzo Fernandez.
The match at Stamford Bridge saw Chelsea’s five-game unbeaten streak come to an end. The Blues fell behind early in the second half when Chris Wood scored in the 50th minute, but Noni Madueke quickly responded with an equalizer seven minutes later.
Despite James Ward-Prowse receiving a second yellow card in the 78th minute, Enzo Maresca’s side couldn’t break through for a winner, even after taking 21 shots on goal. Forest’s goalkeeper, Matz Sels, made an impressive seven saves, frustrating Chelsea’s attempts to secure all three points.
Chelsea fans, however, were particularly critical of Enzo Fernandez. The club’s British record signing at £106.8 million, Fernandez, has struggled to deliver consistent performances since his January 2023 move from Benfica. Despite his inconsistency last season, Fernandez has started every available Premier League match this term and even took on captaincy duties during Reece James’s injury absence.
His performance against Forest, though, drew heavy criticism. One fan commented, “Uncomfortable conversations about Enzo Fernandez once this game is over.” Another added, “Enzo Fernandez is a big, big problem for us. He’s not performing, and now he’s captain, so we can’t drop him.”
Other fans echoed the sentiment, calling Fernandez “the worst player on the pitch” and noting that his contributions were far below expectations.
The result leaves Chelsea in the Champions League places, thanks in part to Aston Villa’s draw with Manchester United earlier in the day. However, Maresca’s side has now dropped points for the first time since September 1, and their home form remains a concern, with just one win from four Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge this season.
