Premier League side put ‘exceptional’ Liverpool target up for sale

Crystal Palace are reportedly set to greenlight the sale of captain Marc Guehi this summer to help finance a move for top defensive target Ousmane Diomande from Sporting Lisbon.

As per GiveMeSport, Palace executives believe selling Guehi is a practical step to raise funds for reinforcing their defence. With just one year remaining on his contract before the 2026 expiration, the club is reluctant to risk losing him on a free transfer.

Rather than allowing his deal to run down, Palace are said to be demanding over £50 million for the 23-year-old to support their pursuit of Diomande.

Guehi is attracting strong interest, with Liverpool currently at the front of the queue for the England international. While Arsenal are also monitoring the situation, the defender is understood to prefer a move to Anfield.

A successful bid from Liverpool would highlight their determination to maintain dominance in English football. The Reds have already made major moves in the transfer window, bringing in Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, and are now exploring a potential deal for Guehi.

With the 2026 World Cup approaching, the centre-back is keen to join a club where he can play regular football to boost his international prospects. Crystal Palace are aiming to complete the sale early in the window to allow time for reinvestment.

Gareth Southgate, former England manager, has previously hailed Guehi as an “exceptional” talent.
