“Ramos and Pepe Were Great, But THIS Arsenal Star Outshines Them – Saliba Explains Why He’s Leaving in January”

“Played with Legends Ramos & Pepe, but ONE Arsenal Star is Better – Saliba Reveals Shocking Reason for January Exit”
The goalkeeper made a move to Southampton from Arsenal this summer after losing his starting spot to David Raya.
Ramsdale joined Arsenal in 2021 from Sheffield United in a £26 million transfer, making 89 appearances. However, following Raya’s arrival—initially on loan in 2023, then permanently—Ramsdale’s playing time decreased significantly.
Speaking to Football Focus about his decision to join Southampton, Ramsdale said, “Sitting on the bench while winning trophies wouldn’t have meant much to me. I just wanted to play football. As a kid, my goal was to be on the pitch, not the bench. So, I’m fortunate to be here at Southampton.”
Throughout his career, Ramsdale rarely found himself on the bench; during his time at Sheffield United, he took loan spells to get game time. In his final season at Arsenal, he featured in just 11 matches.
In his first season at Arsenal, Ramsdale won the Premier League Golden Glove with 16 clean sheets in the league and 20 overall across 41 appearances. He was instrumental in Arsenal’s campaign, helping them finish as Premier League runners-up and reach the Champions League quarter-finals. He also earned four caps for England between 2021 and 2023.
Ramsdale will face his former team when Southampton travels to Arsenal on October 5.
