Earlier this month, Alexander-Arnold was officially introduced as a Madrid player after leaving his boyhood club, Liverpool. In the past two weeks, the 26-year-old made his first two appearances for Los Blancos at the FIFA Club World Cup, notably impressing in their recent 3-1 victory against Pachuca.

However, his brother, Marcell, faced criticism from Liverpool fans due to his social media activity. He shared several pictures with the caption: “That was just negative energy for us to feed off…”

In response, some Liverpool fans commented, “The negative energy is you having no respect for the fanbase that supported your boy,” and “Negative energy is leaving on a free; don’t complain about something you started.” Another added, “So what you’re saying is Liverpool was negative.”

Conversely, several Madrid supporters quickly defended Marcell and Trent, with one writing, “Welcome to Madrid bro, ignore the negative energy in the comments,” and another saying, “Hala Madrid.”

After the match against Pachuca, Alexander-Arnold’s teammate, Jude Bellingham, praised him, stating, “He’s been really good. The lads have taken to him well because he’s not only an amazing player but a great guy. He’s already speaking a bit of Spanish, which impressed everyone. It’s important for him to enjoy himself; the pressure will be high, but he’s here for a reason and has the confidence to succeed.”

Alexander-Arnold and Madrid will return to action on Thursday against Austrian side RB Salzburg at the Lincoln Financial Field.
