Chelsea not prioritising Marc Guehi ahead of January window
Chelsea do not currently regard Marc Guehi as a top target going into the January transfer market.
The Crystal Palace defender, out of contract at the end of the season, has been strongly linked with a move away from Selhurst Park. Liverpool attempted to sign him in the summer but were unsuccessful.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are not actively pushing to re-sign the 25-year-old, despite their defensive issues. Levi Colwill is set to miss the majority of the season with an ACL injury, while Benoit Badiashile has only just returned after a long layoff. Given their situation, Guehi — an academy graduate familiar with the club — could have offered an immediate boost, with his proven Premier League consistency and reliability.
Liverpool remain an option
Guehi’s quality makes him an attractive option for several clubs, and securing a player of his calibre on a cut-price deal is rarely straightforward to ignore. Liverpool may yet return with an offer in January, especially with the 25-year-old entering his prime and eager to test himself at a bigger club.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are in need of defensive reinforcements, and Guehi would represent a strong addition to either squad. Whether Chelsea stick to their current stance or decide to make a move when the window opens remains to be seen — but his profile certainly fits the bill.
