Liverpool fans can expect an active summer transfer window, with the club preparing to address key areas of the squad.
Several pressing concerns need to be tackled, even before considering potential complications if Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah do not extend their contracts. With that in mind, Liverpool are already keeping a close eye on potential transfer opportunities ahead of the market opening on June 12.
Liverpool Monitoring Kingsley Coman’s Situation
According to CaughtOffside, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is expected to be available for transfer this summer, with Liverpool, Tottenham, and Newcastle among the Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.
Despite interest, the Reds have yet to initiate any formal talks with the 28-year-old French winger, whose contract with Bayern runs until 2027. Coman could be available for as little as €45m (£37.5m), making him a potentially smart acquisition—similar to Liverpool’s move for Federico Chiesa in 2024.
However, given the club’s depth on the left wing with Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, any move for Coman would likely depend on an outgoing transfer.
Is Coman the Right Fit for Liverpool?
While Liverpool have been linked with Coman in the past, bigger priorities may take precedence this summer—especially if Salah departs. The Egyptian’s departure would leave a massive void, with over 30 goals per season needing to be replaced.
Despite Coman’s quality, his current output doesn’t compare to Salah’s. The French winger has contributed 10 goal involvements in 32 games this season, significantly lower than Salah’s 52.
Coman could serve as a solid backup option if Diaz moves to Barcelona, given their similar goal contribution rates. However, Liverpool’s main attacking reinforcement will likely be a younger, high-impact signing—one that could come with a hefty price tag.
